Get to Know Me

Born and raised in Southern California, I grew up with a strong connection to the outdoors and enjoyed camping, hiking, skiing and playing in the mountains, desert and ocean. In 1979, I moved to Vermont to ski for a season in Stowe. I arrived that summer to settle in and prepare for the upcoming winter when something I never expected happened...summertime in Vermont!

I’m not saying I didn’t know that Vermont had a summer season; I just had no idea how spectacular it would be! The lushest green forests backed by the bluest of blue skies that I had ever seen – this was the place for me. The following summer, I met my wife on Cape Cod. In 1986, I began my real estate career in Stowe and “the rest is history.” For me, Vermont has been the best place to live and raise my family. I continue to enjoy my connection with the outdoors, regularly spending time mountain biking, backcountry skiing, kayaking and gardening.

Throughout the years, I have remained active in our community. As a board member of the Lamoille Restorative Center, I have the privilege of supporting a local organization promoting restorative justice practices in our community. My commitment to area youth has included serving as school board chairperson, volunteering for over 20 years as a ski instructor for the After School Elementary Ski Program, coaching on various local youth sports teams and being a founding member of the Lamoille Union High School Booster’s Club. I am also a proud supporter of the Stowe Land Trust, The Nature Conservancy in Vermont and the Green Mountain Club.

Receiving the Lamoille Area Board of REALTORS® 2012 Good Neighbor of the Year award for my work as the mentoring program’s coordinator at Hyde Park Elementary School is among my most cherished recognitions. I have also been honored twice as the Lamoille Area REALTOR® of the Year and have served as president of the Lamoille Area Board of REALTORS®. I am an annual recipient of the Coldwell Banker® International President’s Circle, Diamond and Sterling Society sales achievement awards.

As a licensed broker with Coldwell Banker Carlson Real Estate, I welcome the opportunity to assist buyers and sellers with all their housing needs. I am good at what I do, and I think it shows. I enjoy the challenge of facilitating real estate transactions and helping buyers and sellers find common ground so that everyone comes out a winner.

What My Clients Say

I have worked with Jeff Beattie on both real estate purchases as well as sales. He has excellent local market knowledge and can assist with all aspects of either a buy or sell transaction in the northern Vermont market. Jeff is part of one of the largest real estate agencies in the center of Stowe and he and his organization do a very good job of marketing the properties they have to sell. I would highly recommend working with Jeff on any real estate transaction in Vermont.

What My Clients Say

Jeff has lived in the local area for years and knows it well. An active member and involved in the community, he has raised his family here. He was very personable and professional in all of our dealings with him. He made suggestions prior to listing as to what we needed to do to the house to make it more salable. He stayed on top of everything throughout the listing and the sale of our house and kept us informed and involved every step of the way. He worked closely with our attorney to ensure the closing went smoothly.

What My Clients Say

My husband and I highly recommend Jeff Beattie. Jeff has sold two properties for us in Johnson, Vermont. One of our properties had a lot of issues to rectify before we could put it on the market but Jeff guided us through these hurdles and handled them with ease. Jeff is a pleasure to work with and readily available whenever we needed to ask questions or get an update on our property sale. We are very pleased with all the hard work that Jeff has done for us over the years and know that anyone else looking for a real estate broker would be lucky to work with him as well.

Q1 2024 Stowe Area Real Estate Insights: Transition and Adjustment in a Dynamic Market

As we review the first quarter of 2024, the real estate markets in Stowe, Lamoille County, and Waterbury, Vermont, have exhibited distinct patterns of transition and adjustment. Each area responded differently to the underlying economic conditions, reflecting the unique characteristics and challenges of their respective markets. Here’s a closer look at how each area fared during this dynamic period.

Stowe

In Q1 2024, the Stowe real estate market showcased resilience despite significant price corrections. Sales volumes in single-family homes remained consistent year-over-year, though average sold prices dropped by 30.79% and median sold prices by 41.67%. The market saw a 15.38% increase in new listings, indicating seller optimism and possible market adjustments. Moreover, significant decreases in days on market for both single-family homes and condos suggest continued strong demand at adjusted price points.

Lamoille County

The real estate market in Lamoille County in Q1 2024 reflected a typical seasonal slowdown, with an overall decrease in activity. Sales volume fell by 11.43% and average sold prices by 22.71%, with a modest decrease in median sold prices. Despite fewer transactions, specific areas like Morristown and Eden showed strong growth in sales and prices, contrasting with a general market contraction. This indicates a market of mixed dynamics, with certain localities demonstrating resilience and potential for growth amidst broader market challenges.

Waterbury

Waterbury's market in Q1 2024 underwent significant shifts, with a 70% drop in the number of properties sold, countered by substantial increases in both average and median sold prices. The market's tightening was evidenced by an 18.18% decrease in new listings and a much quicker sales pace, indicating strong competition for well-priced properties.

Overview

The first quarter of 2024 revealed diverse adjustments across Stowe, Lamoille County, and Waterbury, with each area adapting to unique market conditions. Stowe adjusted to lower price points with quick sales, Lamoille County navigated seasonal slowdowns with pockets of growth, and Waterbury transitioned to a market focused on fewer, higher-value transactions.

Outside of national influences on the real estate market, local factors, such as what the state determines around property taxes, could have a larger influence on the direction in which each of these markets heads throughout 2024.

This dynamic period underscores the importance of nuanced market understanding and the value of expert local advice for navigating the evolving real estate landscape.
